Makan - Makan || Hajjah Mona Asam Pedas, Melaka

So.. macam dalam entry sebelum ni.. we had asam pedas for dinner.. where? the famous asam pedas Hajah Mona in Kota Laksamana.. most of the review I read suggested here.. so, lets go!

The problem is.. Adam.. he don't eat asam pedas.. luckily there were otak-otak stall in front of the restaurant.. itu jela yang dia makan.. tak ingat brapa keping dia makan.. tapi memang banyaaaaak..

Ok, back to cerita asam pedas.. kat sini, the asam pedas comes together with nasi in a set.. and the nasi ada sayur taugeh and telur masin..

Mak and Abah shared kepala ikan something.. and I ordered asam pedas daging tetel..

Mak and Abah love their asam pedas.. they sat it hit their taste buds spot on! I can agree to that.. I tasted the gravy..

On the other hand my asam pedas tetel is a one notch spicier that the parent's and a bit salty.. quite a let down.. I was imagining to sip the gravy till the last bit.. but it is still good.. I managed to finish but didn't dare to sip the gravy..

Abah said he didn't mind to come here again for another fix of asam pedas.. it must be THAT good for Abah to say that.. So if you are in Melaka do try tne asam pedas here.. you wont regret..

Trip to Kuala Selangor ni is trip terkejut masa MIL came here.. Dude and his siblings nak bawak MIL jalan-jalan.. tapi too impromptu.. So plannyer asal jalan je..

Actually masa ni Dude & I plan nak lepak rumah je.. tapi kitorang terus shoot out to Kuala Selangor lepas Asar to meet the whole pack.. We were the first to arrive.. MIL with BIL and derang dapat book a room for the night.. kiotang yang lain dah takda room..

Plan asal untuk spend the night bertukar ke makan-makan di Jeram saja.. Where else? Aroma Ikan Bakar la.. Since kitorang awal, so kitorang la book tempat & order food.. Masa tu tak ramai orang lagi.. tapi table yang strategically located dah fully reserved.. yang ada yang dalam dewan yang panas.. tak kesahla.. asalkan dapat makan seafood..

Tak lama lepas tu, semua sampai tapi.. food tak sampai lagi.. ramai orang sangat.. Adam dah cranky sebab lapar.. Bila food sampai je, memang terus dia terkam tak tengok kiri-kanan dah..

First yang sampai ayam goreng kunyit Adam.. nothing to comment.. standard la ayam goreng kunyit.. tapi portion dia macam sikit je..

Next is sotong goreng sambal.. This dish have Dude's name all over it.. dia memang tak boleh makan takda sambal.. so this is especially for him.. I didn't quite like it sebab agak pedas to my liking.. Tapi tengok orang lain enjoy je.. okla kot..

Then came sayur kailan ikan masin.. biasa la kailan ikan masin.. what do you expect?

Ikan masak sweet sour came next.. Since I don't quite like fishes.. cannot comment here..

Butter Prawn.. overall nice tapi would have been extraordinary kalau prawn to lagi fresh.. tapi agak kering sikitla this dish.. macam makan udang goreng biasa je.. just ade tambah jaring-jaring telur tu..

Ok, this is my star dish for the nite.. pay attention ye.. MY Star Dish.. orang lain tak tau la..Ketam goreng salted egg.. walaupun agak dry tapi the taste hit spot on..Memang if we were to come again.. I would order this again.. YummS!

Malam tu semua balik dengan happy tummy.. Even MIL pon jugak.. Hope she enjoy the impromptu trip..

I Say

Price : normal price for a seafood restaurant.. I didn't know the exact amount because it was on my BIL

Food : tasty but some of the seafood is not fresh enough.. maybe because they took out the old stock to cover the demand for that day 

Service : can be improved especially when interacting with patrons

Atmosphere : it was crowded that time.. couldn't comment much

Cleanliness : fair

Parking : if early you'll get to park at the parking lot, if not park by the roadside at your own risk.

Finally dapat dah makan aiskrim Pop Malaya.. What I can say?? Sedap!! Rasa sangat fresh.. memang made guna fresh fruits sebab tu sedap.. Baru rasa 2 flavour and more to come..

So, jom makan aiskrim Pop Malaya!! Sokong Malaysian Made!!

This one rasa creamy sebab ada vanilla tu.. lagipun honeydew pon dah rasa lemak jugak kan?

This one pon sedap sebab ada refreshing watermelon lepas tu ada masam-masam manis laici..

Dah tak tau kali ke berapa datang makan sini.. Memang kawan Dude pon suke makan kat sini.. so memang sini tempat dituju untuk lepak-lepak.. Itupon tak cover semua menu lagi..

I won't say much.. by the number of times we eat here, could've guess we're comfortable here..

Sebenarnya malam tu nak makan ringan-ringan je.. and dah ada pon cafe baru yang nak try.. Tapi rupanya cafe tu tak berapa nak baru sebab dah tutup.. sedih tak dapat rasa..

So, kitorang pusing-pusing around the area.. ingat nak pegi the other restaurant.. in the way tu ternampak la pulak restoran ni yang agak baru la kot..

Tengok ambience dia macam best je.. siap ada pizza bakar dalam oven arang tu.. hmmm.. mestu cuba..

Masa masuk tu tak ramai orang sangat lagi maybe still early.. Tengok the menu and order.. hopefully kitorang ordered the right one.. 

Drinks pon order special sikit dari normal.. Orange juice for Adam and Sixty9 The Lima for us.. Our drink is so refreshing.. would like to try this combination at home..

The first order yang sampai is Adam's Mushroom Soup & Garlic Bread..

Then came the onion rings.. Adam was fooled into eating the onion ring.. dia ingatkan potato ring.. almost separuh baru die sedar rase lain macam.. ahahahah..

Dude order oriental chicken chop.. he said it was nice and big portion.. kalau dia dah kata big portion apa lagi orang lain?? Dia kate won't think twice nak order ni lagi next visit..

Finally yang sampai is my pizza.. 4 season pizza.. sedap sebab thin crust and toppings pon tak kedekut.. and ada chilli flakes!

It was a very nice experience.. dapat try new place and sedap.. So, apa lagi.. go and visit Sixty9 Islamic Steakhouse!

Ok..Seriously.. tak tau dah berapa kali makan kat sini.. tapi we made it a point order menu yang lain everytime kitorang datang.. Tapi Adam memang tak boleh nak buat geng.. nak makan yang sama je..

Kali ni order Pasta Aglio Olio.. Pasta ni a bit on a spicier side.. kalau tak tahan memang tak boleh tolong.. eheheh

And then kirang order pizza.. pepperoni pizza.. sedap! Sebab super thin crust.. and makan pon masa panas-panas..

 

Adam order both of these.. mac & cheese and mashed potato.. end up dia tak usik pon mashed potato tu.. dah muak dengan mac & cheese la tu

Finally kiotarang order chicken wings.. Sampai menjilat jari..

Kulcats never dissapoint.. Even now, we've introduced to a friend of us.. And every single time ajak makan kat Kulcats.. I guess the ambience pon sesuai untuk anak derang yang kecik-keci and suka merayau tu..

This is our second time here.. we made a point that we would always come here everytime we are in Penang.. Its that good you guys!! I love their tandoori.. the chicken still maintain moisture even after grilling.. the naan.. oh don't let me start on the amount of cheese.. yummy yeah!!

This time around, we shared the meal since we just had our late breakfast before making our move back to KL..

Price : around RM25 for a claypot briyani and a set of cheese naan and tandoori chicken with an additional cheese naan.. I guess the price maintain the same

Food : I stick to their tandoori chicken and cheese naan

Service : serving the food was fast but its hard to get their attention for an order 

Atmosphere : a normal mamak ambience

Cleanliness : fair but it would help if they get to clean their floor once in a while 

Parking : park at the spaces near the restaurant

Ni first time breakfast outside hotel.. selama ni free breakfast.. tapi this time around kitorang nak try breakfast in Penang.. banyak choices tapi Dude malas nak pegi jauh lagipun takut sesat dengan ada my dad in another car..

Actually dah penah suggest to Abah utk try breakfast kat Transfer Road tapi dia kata tak sedap.. Pelik jugak sebab base on review semua bagi good review.. so cakap Dude kita pergi try jugak Roti Canai.. biar kitorang be the judge.. Sekali Abah pon ikut jugak.. malas nak pikir nak makan mana la tu..

Sekali, bila order datang, baru dia confess dia tak makan pon kat situ sebab tengok macam biasa-biasa je.. Dah makan baru tau sedap.. siap tambah lagi.. tapi bila tambah tu dah slow sikit service sebab orang dah ramai..

Kitorang prefer kari ayam instead of reviewed kari daging is better.. takpa-takpa next time kita try lagi.. and be the judge..

Yang frustrated nya adalah teh tarik.. warna orange sangat! and cair.. Adam siap marah.. sebab dia ingat kitorang saja order air carrot untuk dia.. ahahahha.. funny betol..

Ada jugak order roti bakar telur goyang.. roti bakar dia bakar dengan arang.. sedap.. ada rase burnt burnt gitu.. telur dia pon masak just nice..

And kitorang discovered that roti bangali yang dia bakar tu ada dijual kedai across the road.. Melila Bakery tak silap nama dia.. and kitorang beli satu buku roti dengan homemade kaya.. kaya tu memang rich sungguh.. sekali makan nak lagi.. dan lagi.. dan lagi..

Actually ni masa awal-awal IOI City Mall launching.. tak banyak lagi kedai bukak.. so, kitorang tak jalan banyak sangat.. More to nak cari makan jek.. since hari Jumaat kan? Tapi sebab satu floor tu penuh dengan tempat makan.. we were spoiled with choices..

End up kitorang just walk to a place yang stand out.. Toast Box masa ni sangat menyerlah sebab dia all-white.. terang sangat nampak.. Menarik giler!!

Dah tengok menu terus Q-up and order kat kaunter.. Yup! self-order.. tapi food akan dihantar kat meja.. Kitorang order toast.. mee siam special and curry laksa..

Tunggu tu agak lama jugak.. tengok meja lain pon still tunggu food.. after about like an eternity later.. air and toast sampai.. Nasib baik..cool down sikit..

Tunggu lagi for the main dish.. tunggu punya tunggu punya tunggu.. tak sampai.. and the last draw adalah bila one of the staff boleh datang and tanya apa yang kitorang order? like what the $#%#?? Masa tu dah hangat dah.. sebab lunch hour is almost over and kitorang x mkan lagi..

So, we asked one of the waiter cakap kitorang nak cancel our order boleh tak? Lepas tu th ordere cashier yang ambik have the guts untuk datang and cakap "boleh.. tapi saya kena kira yang dah makan ni la!" dengan jeling lagi.. perggghhhh.. dia ingat kitorang nak makan free ape??!!

Kitorang pon habiskan lah apa yang tinggal.. since dah nak kena charge kan??  Tak lama lepas tu the cashier datang and bagi balance without even saying sorry or bagitahu apa yang dia charge..

That's it!! full stop! No more Toast Box after this.. sorry..
